Orange County Matcha Reviews

A running list of matcha in Orange County. Sorted alphabetically.

Airoma Cafe – Garden Grove, CA

RATING: 9/10

Really big fan of the matcha einspanner. Good flavors throughout and high quality matcha. The matcha black sesame is also quite good. I actually liked it more than the einspanner because of its unique taste. Matcha ube is pretty good too apparently, but I’m not huge on ube so I’m not the best judge of that. No seating. Free parking.

Cassel Earth Coffee – Irvine, CA

RATING: 8/10

Honestly, all the drinks are pretty good here. Matcha isn’t their specialty, but the matcha latte is very good. I actually prefer to get the hojicha latte here — it’s my go-to for hojicha in Orange County.

Parking with validation (ask them for the all-day validation if you plan to stay long). Lots of seating, limited chargers.

HEYTEA – Irvine, CA

Directions via Apple Maps and Google Maps

RATING: 9/10

I really like HEYTEA’s matcha — their matcha cloud matcha jasmine latte is my favorite matcha in OC. However, it’s expensive.

Their regular matcha lattes are also good, especially if you get them with matcha cloud foam, which is killer.

No seating. Free parking, but it can sometimes be hard to park close.

Junbi – Irvine, CA

RATING: 7/10

Pretty decent for a chain. I enjoyed their regular matcha latte, which was nothing crazy but was still good and wasn’t watered down or anything. Their hojicha latte is okay.

I also came during the Miffy promotion, and the lychee matcha special was not great. I wouldn’t order that again.

Moongoat Coffee Roasters – Irvine, CA

Directions via Apple Maps and Google Maps

RATING: 4/10

Come here for the coffee, not the matcha. The mushroom matcha drink is ass. Regular matcha latte is ok, a little watered-down. Same goes for the strawberry matcha.

Lots of seating, indoor/outdoor. LImited chargers. Free parking.

Mori’s Irvine, CA

RATING: 8/10

Had the Biscoff matcha latte. They served it with a biscoff cookie on top, and you don’t really taste the Biscoff in the drink unless you take out the cookie and eat it. But it was nevertheless good. I wish they had incorporated the biscoff into the cloud foam, or at least salted the cloud foam. Matcha is high quality. Ube matcha is also apparently pretty good here, but I’m not the best judge of ube bc I don’t like it.

Some seating, indoor/outdoor. Free parking in the garage behind.

OMOMO Tea Shoppe – Irvine, CA

Directions via Apple Maps and Google Maps

RATING: 7/10

For a boba shop that doesn’t specialize in matcha, the OMOMO matcha was surprisingly decent. A little on the sweet side. But honestly, I’d still rather get their boba.

Outdoor seating, but I wouldn’t really want to study here. Lots of parking.

Stereoscope Coffee Co. – Newport Beach, CA

Directions via Apple Maps and Google Maps

RATING: 7.5/10

I’m split on this one. On one hand, they have a good assortment of fancy ceremonial matchas and you can taste the quality. However, it’s expensive. This is a place to go for matcha, not matcha lattes.

Free parking in a garage. Decent amount of seating, no chargers.

Vivot Craft Cafe – Fullerton, CA

Directions via Apple Maps and Google Maps

RATING: 8/10

This is probably the strongest regular matcha latte I’ve had anywhere. I REALLY felt the caffeine. Which is a good thing, but at the same time, if you’re not expecting it, it can be a little surprising. Ube matcha latte and banana matcha latte were also pretty good.

Free parking. Lots of indoor seating.
